Olympics are best possible advertisement for the importance of training and coaching, say HR and L&D staff

When GB Olympic Taekwondo Gold medal winner Jade Jones told millions on TV that her coach Paul Green was “a legend”, and “without him I wouldn’t be where I am today.” she and other competitors with similar appreciation were providing the best possible advertisement for the importance of coaching.

That is the view of 91 per cent of HR and Learning & Development (L&D) professionals in a survey conducted by the organisers of the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition, which takes place at The NEC Birmingham on 2 and 3 October.

Andrew Gee, Senior Project Manager at Venture Marketing Group, the organisers of the World of Learning Conference & Exhibition, comments on the survey:

“The role of coaching and training in improving motivation, engagement and performance has been high profile this summer as coaches have featured so prominently in the success of Olympians. Endorsement like this can only really be good news for L&D professionals.”

Coaching will be one of themes discussed at The World of Learning Conference & Exhibition on 2 and 3 October at The NEC, Birmingham. Simon Dennis, will be sharing his experience as Head of Coaching for Fujitsu during his presentation on utilising coaching as a management technique to deliver business objectives on Tuesday 2 October.

The UK’s premier learning event is held in association with the British Institute for Learning & Development and is supported by the following associations and industry titles: Personnel Today, HR Magazine, Changeboard, Training Journal, TrainingZone.co.uk, the eLearning Network, PersonnelZone.com and Learning Magazine. A new event partner is The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), a sector-led body formed to accelerate quality improvement, increase participation and raise standards and achievement in the Further Education (FE) and Skills sector in England.
