The world’s biggest online oil and gas jobs board, OilCareers.com, is gearing up to make a colourful splash at the Global Petroleum Show (GPS) to be held in Calgary from 12-14 June 2012.

Each year, OilCareers.com invests more than US $1.5m in marketing to attract the widest possible talent pool of oil and gas candidates globally.

The company specialises in providing jobseekers with an easy and effective way of searching for a new job or career within the international energy industry – and at GPS, it will introduce visitors and exhibitors to the phenomenon that is sweeping North American counter culture – the traffic lights party.

OilCareers.com will ask visitors to signal their career intentions and rate their job satisfaction at booth 8054 at GPS.

Whether participants are already in a job or looking for one, the traffic lights party offers a refreshing approach to career development – they will be provided with a soda in one of three coloured cups, depending on their professional status:

Red – ‘I really love my job’

Amber – ‘Excite me and I will consider it’

Green – ‘I could be just what you are looking for’

From the perspective of recruiters, it provides a simple and clear means to spot potential candidates on the show floor and beyond.

Alternatively, guests can take part in an interactive survey or speak to a member of the OilCareers.com team at the booth, to get the best advice about their career development.

Managing director, Mark Guest, said: “In an increasingly competitive industry where companies are turning to ever more innovative ways to attract the top talent, it is important to stay ahead of the game. The progressive approach firms are taking to communicate with those they wish to reach out to raises the stakes for all and at OilCareers.com we recognize the value of a creative approach.

“Employers should not underestimate the difference that fresh and engaging tactics can make to identifying forward-thinking and innovative individuals – stop and consider who you want to work with, get ready to adopt a new attitude to attracting them, then go for it!”

OilCareers.com will also be at the Global Energy Career Expo at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre, 13- 14 June, where visitors will have another opportunity to benefit from expert advice and meet some of the industry’s key recruitment consultants.
