Office workers are increasingly taking home comforts into their office as a shift of emphasis develops among top companies.

Experts say the age-old stereotype of employees taking work home has been reversed - and people are now taking home into the office.

David Tunna, director of HTW Selection a recruitment company, says the trend is being encouraged by many company bosses:

Desks all over the region are getting slowly cluttered with gadgets, mascots and paraphernalia taken from home. Executives used to be satisfied with a picture of the kids and a naff executive toy. Now, i-Pods, books, screensavers of their house are commonplace.

Instead of being filled with staples and paperclips drawers contain snacks, slippers and make-up as people bring their home life comforts into their workspace.

Tunna says firms are encouraging this trend by contributing to the atmosphere by adding a number of creature comforts to the office. His company is leading the way and by adding some unique touches to create a different environment.

Top firms are attracting people by making their offices more like homes. Plasma screens, pool tables and classic arcade games are helping attract leading talent to work for their company. The physical working environment is becoming an increasingly important consideration for job candidates.
