New appreciating human capital toolkit unveiled at HRD Show

Water for Fish are using this yearís HRD Show to unveil its ëAppreciating Human Capital Toolkití

Water for Fish, the people and organisation consulting firm, are using this yearís HRD Show to unveil its ëAppreciating Human Capital Toolkití, designed to help organisations measure, quantify and thus benchmark their people - often termed - ëhuman capitalí. The timing of this new service (see www.appreciatinghumancapital.com) is aimed primarily at the 1,300 publicly quoted companies in the UK who are now required (from April 2005), to include a section on their approach to human capital management in their annual Operating and Financial Reviews (OFRs), or state formally why they are not doing this.

An attractively designed demo CD-ROM shows how the Appreciating Human Capital Toolkit works and is freely available from Water for Fish on stand 1104. The CD-ROM is simple to follow and uses a cartoon character to take the most ëmetrics-phobicí person on a step-by-step guide to gathering the vital information for an OFR. It also gives handy, practical advice on how this information can benefit an organisation. Whilst aimed initially at quoted companies, this new approach to HCM is set to become best-practice for all progressive Public and Private Sector organisations which put a high value on their people.

Rob Davies, Managing Director, Water for Fish said: ëThe Toolkit is aimed at those HR and finance professionals only now coming to terms with the enormity of the task involved in thinking about their people in relation to workforce size and composition; retention levels and motivation; skills, comptencies and training; levels of remuneration and fair employment practice, plus leadership and succession planning.

ëSofterívariables such as culture, climate and motivation are also included in the Toolkit. This information is notoriously hard to collect. The toolkit thus provides a highly practical and valuable framework. We look forward to discussing this with people visiting our stand.í

The AHC toolkit is designed as a strategic service to help organisations answer such key business questions as:
How do we plan for the future?
Do we have the right resources to achieve our goals?
Do we use these resources fully and effectively?
Do our employees have the necessary skills and experience to ensure our organisation continues to learn?
Do we know if inappropriate processes stifle our company?
How do we measure any and all of the above?
