Research for a salary survey which aims to bridge the gap between potential employeesí expectations and the reality of working within a client organisation gets underway today. The authors are calling on the HR community to participate fully in a bid to build the most comprehensive survey of its kind yet undertaken in the UK.
The bluebookô 2006, the 2nd annual salary survey conducted by Angela Mortimer will poll 3,000 candidates and 1,500 client organisations to clarify a longstanding grey area in employee/employer relations; are candidate salary and benefits expectations out of line with the employersí ability to deliver? The depth of the research will make it the most significant undertaken by the 30 year old recruitment agency.
ìTypically, salary surveys focus on gross salaries alone and give a one-sided view of any employer/employee relationship,î says Ashley Williams, director of contracts at Angela Mortimer. ìThey are a useful benchmarking tool for HR managers, but do not tell the full story. What we are attempting to do is provide in-depth analysis of salary and benefits provided by organisations balanced by the aspirations and requirements of individuals. In this way, we believe that the two parties will more closely align their expectations.î
ìWe are looking at the HR community across the UK to help collate the data and make this the most valuable survey of its kind ever undertaken in the UK.î
Participants will receive a free copy of the book 2006 in January 2006
The bluebookô 2006 will be published in January 2006 and will analyse major industry sectors and key UK regions. The HR community will be invited to participate at CIPD Harrogate in October by HR Counsel, Angela Mortimerís specialist HR division.
