Online outplacement specialist MyWorkSearch is helping to fund a brand new facility for Professor Sugata Mitra’s work, which harnesses the power of technology to help children ‘self-learn’.
Part-inspiration for the blockbuster film Slumdog Millionaire, Professor Mitra’s work started when he knocked through a wall in his New Delhi office and installed a computer with an Internet connection for the local slum children to use. Soon many became fully-fledged autodidacts, teaching themselves English and maths and other subjects.
Richard Alberg, Founder and CEO of MyWorkSearch, comments: “We passionately believe in the power of technology to transform people’s lives by providing the tools they need to manage their own development. We are very impressed by Professor Mitra's work with young people; it is a powerful, innovative idea that is bringing about much good and has the potential to transform societies. It is our pleasure to dedicate some of our profits to benefit others.
Professor Mitra has worked with children across the world from Africa to Latin America and is currently working with a number of schools in the UK.
