More executives turn to the web

Online recruitment on the increase - Totaljobs

The internet is increasingly becoming the medium of choice for British jobseekers looking for senior positions.

Research from totaljobs.com, one of the UKís leading jobs boards, reveals that more executives are using the internet to search for jobs than ever before. The survey, completed by 9,745 jobseekers, reveals that over a third of online jobseekers are looking for work at management level or above. More than one in ten are senior managers, whilst around 100 respondents are CEO or company owner level.

Online jobseekersí salaries are also on the increase. Twenty two per cent now earn upwards of 40,000 - an increase of 11 per cent from last year. The average salary for jobseekers on the net overall is 24,460.

The research dispels the myth that the web is the domain of graduates and first jobbers. Twenty eight per cent of online jobseekers are aged 40 and above, whilst the average age of online jobseekers is 34.

Says Keith Robinson, commercial director for totaljobs.com: The net is now an integral part of the jobseeking process for candidates of all levels. Finding jobseekers for senior positions is no longer the preserve of headhunters - these candidates are online and recruiters can access them without having to pay a hefty consultantís fee. Recruiters need to follow jobseekersí lead in order to take advantage of this cost effective talent pool.
