Monster Sees Considerable Migration Toward Online Recruitment Within the Healthcare Industry

Healthcare organizations and professionals are increasingly looking online for recruitment and employment, according to information today released by Monster, the global online careers and recruitment resource and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. Monster’s healthcare resume database continues to experience significant growth with over 50,000 resumes added each week. Additionally, a recent Monster Employment Index report indicates that online demand for healthcare workers is at an all-time high, signifying the growing popularity of online recruitment strategies within the healthcare sector.

Healthcare continues to be a burgeoning field that is helping to fuel the economy, as hospitals and healthcare organizations are constantly in need of well-qualified candidates. According to the American Hospital Association, U.S. hospitals currently need approximately 118,000 Registered Nurses (RNs) to fill vacant positions nationwide. With more than 400,000 nursing-specific resumes available on Monster, better utilization of online resources may help hospitals fill this gap quickly and effectively.

Adding to the need for better recruitment techniques is recently proposed legislation. The Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2005, currently in review with the Senate Committee on Finance, seeks to establish a requirement for minimum staffing ratios. This is likely to further accelerate the demand for qualified nurses and have an enormous impact on the industry in terms of staffing. Hospitals and other healthcare organizations will increasingly rely more upon online recruitment as a powerful way to connect with well-qualified candidates.
