MilitaryStars Enlists New York Yankees

The New York Yankees understand the value of celebrating and honoring military veterans. Theyíre hosting a military appreciation day at Yankee Stadium on July 29th to highlight veteransí service, and by that, theyíre also helping those veterans to find high quality civilian jobs upon their transition from the military. At the game on the 29th against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Yankees will be helping MilitaryStars, the nationís largest military career expo company, to broadcast its upcoming military career expo in New York City on August 10th at the Hilton New York from 10am ñ 4pm.

ìThe help of a professional sports team, especially one with the popularity of the New York Yankees, is one of the most effective routes I can think of to spread the word about our hiring event in New York to the thousands of veterans in the area,î said MilitaryStars President Todd Hecht. ìOur message and career expo information will be displayed on the stadium scoreboard during the game and on the front entrance announcement board throughout the day. The veterans who hear about our hiring events through the Yankees will know that they are appreciated and that their skills, dedication and commitment are valued by our nationís employers.î

The hiring event, free to all transitioning personnel and veterans, will be the second that MilitaryStars has hosted in NYC this year. MilitaryStars answered the call for subsequent career expos in the Big Apple in light of the historic success of the first event.

Hundreds of transitioning military personnel and veterans are already pre-registered to attend the hiring event, and myriad employers, ranging from defense contractors like KBR ñ Overseas to technology providers like Telephonics, are equally set to participate.

The career expo at the Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue of the Americas, will not only showcase the brave men and women of our nationís military, but will also credit the attending employers as military-friendly corporations at a time when young military veterans are experiencing twice the unemployment rate of their civilian counterparts.

ìWe fight the military to civilian unemployment trend every day,î said Hecht, ìand we couldnít be prouder that we now have a group like the New York Yankees to help us get the word out.î

In addition to the military career expo company, the New York Yankees is also working with the Wounded Warrior Foundation, a military charity that helps brighten the lives of service men and women who were injured during combat by providing free of charge R&R to them as well as their families.
