Media contacts hire sales duo as confidence returns to sector

.

With the total number of registered vacancies for January up 11% year-on-year, specialist recruiter, Media Contacts, has strengthened its new and traditional media teams, with the addition of two new Consultants, with over six yearsí direct experience in media sales and management between them.

Simon Davis (26) has joined the Islington-based consultancyís Media division from EMAP Construct, where he was Sales Manager on Construction News and the Construction Careers Event. Davis was attracted by the consultative sell of working in a recruitment sphere. At EMAP his responsibilities included recruitment and whilst liaising with some employment agencies saw at first-hand, ìHow not to do itî.

Ed Lane (25), the former Advertising Manager on Centaurís New Media Age, has appropriately moved on to Media Contactsí New Media team. Lane previously spent two years on Centaurís The Engineer. Lane sees the move as a, ìNatural progression which will utilise his new media knowledge.î

Media Contactsí Senior Manager, Ross Nicholson, believes that it is first hand experience of your market place that makes the difference between providing an average service and a truly exceptional one. ìMedia Contacts has continued its policy of employing fresh blood with media industry experience to provide a service that all consultancies talk about but few actually deliver,î emphasised Nicholson.

Davis and Lane join a team whose years of experience is drawn from the media industry they serve: online and print media, through live events, exhibitions and conferences

Commenting on the state of the market, Media Contactís MD High Joslin reports of team building for the first time since 2001, The second half of 2003 saw a continuing return of confidence in the sector, compared to the previous eighteen months which saw recruitment freezes or, at best, replacement of under-performing members of their sales team.
