Marshall Goldsmith to Present at the HCI’s 2007 National Human Capital Summit

Phoenix, March 19-21

The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, renowned executive coach and popular author, will be a keynote speaker at HCI’s second annual National Human Capital Summit, to be held in Phoenix March 19-21.

Marshall Goldsmith, Principal of Marshall Goldsmith Partners, is a world authority who helps successful leaders get even better by achieving positive change in behavior: for themselves, their people, and their teams. He has worked with more than 70 leading CEOs and their executive teams.

Recently, the American Management Association named Goldsmith one of the 50 great thinkers and leaders who have influenced the field of management, and BusinessWeek listed him as one of the most influential practitioners in the history of leadership development. In November 2005, he was recognized as a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources, the highest award for an HR professional.

Day one of the Summit, Dr. Goldsmith will present the Leadership Keynote: The Leader of the Future: Visions, Strategies and Best Practices for the New Era, where he will address a leader’s role in facing emerging and unforeseen challenges, opportunities, and trends in today’s knowledge economy.

Goldsmith will explain what organizations and communities will need from their leaders today and in the years to come. He will also define the dynamic requirements for the qualities, skills, and actions of The Leader of the Future, and provide guidance to shape development for attendees and their executive teams.

Marshall Goldsmith has appeared in: The Wall Street Journal, as one of the top 10 executive educators; Forbes, as one of the five most-respected executive coaches; The Economist, as one of the most credible consultants in the new era of business; and Fast Company, as America’s preeminent executive coach. In addition, his work has received national recognition from almost every professional organization in his field, including the Academy of Management, ASTD, the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Goldsmith’s leadership development strategies are detailed in his 20 books. Amazon.com ranks seven of these books as most popular in the field, and Harvard Business School includes six among its Working Knowledge recommended books. Two of Goldsmith’s recent books are Global Leadership: The Next Generation and The Art and Practice of Leadership Coaching.

In addition to his work as a consultant and author, Dr. Marshall Goldsmith teaches executive education at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, where he serves as an Adjunct Professor. His professional affiliations include previous service as a member of the board of the Peter Drucker Foundation for 10 years. He has also donated substantial time to non-profit organizations, including the Girl Scouts, and the International and American Red Cross, where he was a National Volunteer of the Year.

Marshall Goldsmith holds a Ph.D. from UCLA.

Leadership defines any great organization, but defining what leadership actually entails is much more difficult. HCI is pleased that Marshall Goldsmith will discuss leadership in the context of current and future business requirements. We look forward to his presentation at the 2007 Summit, said Allan Schweyer, HCI’s President and Executive Director.
