Launch of Unique Global Forum for Cross-Border HR Experts

A group of leading HR and employment law experts have the launch of XBHR, an invitation-only association providing, for the first time, a multi-disciplinary, multi-jurisdiction forum for professional advisors and academics who are experts in cross-border HR and employment issues.

Our founding members include in-house counsel, private practice lawyers, HR consultants, and tax and benefits experts based in the US, UK, mainland Europe, and Asia. They are drawn from leading organisations such as US law firm Proskauer Rose, PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, UK law firm Fox Williams, Intel, Spanish law firm Sagardoy and global benefits advisers, Hewitt Consulting.

XBHR's key objective is to create a think tank of genuine experts to influence the development of cross-border employment law and practice, which has only recently become recognised as an area of specific expertise.

The association will kick off with an invitation only Roundtable Conference to be held at Hanbury Manor in the UK on March 6-8 2003. Limited to 50 expert attendees to encourage real debate, the half-day topics to be considered at the conference include:

* Corporate Governance after Enron and Sarbanes-Oxley: HR as a shield for Protecting the Multinational Organisation

* Global Organisational Crises: Crisis Response Tactics for Global HR

* Think Globally - Act Globally or Think Globally - Act Locally?: Structuring HR Management Policies and Programs in Multinational Organisations.

* Overnight Global Restructuring: The Legal, Cost and Resource Planning Considerations in Transferring People in 50 Countries on the Same Day

* When Employment Laws Jump Borders: Managing Global HR in the Era of Data Privacy, Cross-border Expatriate Claims, and Global Human Rights Lawsuits and Boycotts.

Clare Murray, XBHR Chair and founding member said: XBHR is unique in that it fills what was until now a void in the area of cross-border human resources and employment advice. This isn't about comparing the ways in which different countries address human resources issues, but rather about looking at the key legal, tactical and practical implications in genuine cross-border human resources and employment transactions and disputes.
