Launch of UKís first ëaccessible for allí recruitment magazine ñ and itís Welsh!

.

The drive to make all information on the web accessible for the 100,000 people with sight problems in Wales took a step forward this week with the launch of a new groundbreaking online recruitment magazine by Welsh Recruitment in working partnership with RNIB Cymru.

The unemployment rate of people who are blind and partially sighted in Wales is unacceptably high at 75 per cent, partly because less than 5 per cent of all job adverts and application forms advertised in the mainstream recruitment media are available in an accessible format.

The new online Welsh Recruitment magazine will be the first of its kind to provide an accessible text version for people with sight problems by enabling readers to select their preferred level of text at any size.

Furthermore the navigation shortcuts will help those who cannot use a mouse or those who have trouble seeing the cursor on screen, such as people with motor neurone conditions.

Kate Hughes, Policy and Communications Officer, RNIB Cymru said: ìIt is often impossible for people to read recruitment adverts and complete application forms as they are inaccessible. This means that the process of applying for jobs is made far more complexî.

Launching the magazine this week in Cardiff, Mark Powney, Production Manager, said: ìAt Welsh Recruitment we have made a commitment to helping those with disabilities gain access to online content, something we feel is extremely important and often overlookedî.

ìGovernment accessibility compliance is one of our key objectives and all of our future digital editions will meet government regulationsî, he said.

Working with the UKís leading provider of digital publications, Devin Holmes, YUDU Media said, this new online magazine from Welsh Recruitment will mark a revolutionary move not only in the digital edition industry, but the UK publishing industry on the whole.
