Launch of Jobboom Formation

.

Initially planned for January 2003, Jobboom Formation (abbreviation of REPERTOIRE INTERNET DE LA FORMATION CONTINUE) was officially launched on March 3. This directory was developed in collaboration with Emploi-Qubec and the Commission des partenaires du march du travail.

The site differs from Jobboom in that it's blue instead of red and employment offers have been replaced by continuous education offers. So why did the government contribute $745,645?

According to the Qubec Minister for Employment, Agns Maltais, Our participation in this project is an extension of government policy and the action plan for adult education and continuing education. It is designed to stimulate the demand for continuing education by employees and companies.

Free listing of the thousands of continuing education courses offered by public and private organizations, an agenda of continuing education-related events and activities, and a wide variety of information for employers (1% training investment, workforce professional qualification plan, and more) can only stimulate demand. In this context, it was imperative for the government to contribute to this project, especially since it wouldn't necessarily have done it any better alone. This way, it benefits from Jobboom's high visibility to its target market (people in the Qubec workforce re-evaluating their careers).

For its part, Jobboom's goal is to reproduce the success of its job supply and demand model in the continuing education arena

Licensed training organizations can register and list their course offerings for free, but must pay to broadcast them to potential candidates/prospects.

Do you have five places available for a three-day workshop starting in a week? All you have to do is post your ad, broadcast it, and presto, with a bit of luck, your class is full!

Up to now, training organizations regularly flooded company mailboxes with colourful promotional fliers, illustrated with their trainers' pictures and listing all their courses course descriptions.

If Jobboom Formation succeeds in filling up training classes more efficiently than the fliers, it will be a roaring success.

What a bold initiative!
