New name reflects demand for high-calibre business assistants and PAs
In a bid to address market shifts in client and candidate requirements, Knightsbridge Secretaries will on Wednesday 6th December 2006 become Knightsbridge Recruitment.
When the business launched 20 years ago, the role of the secretary was clearly defined ñ almost all employers were looking for shorthand skills, accurate typing and a good telephone manner.
Today, the role of the secretary has developed and evolved and employers demand high-calibre candidates with excellent written and spoken communication skills, a sound technical ability, and the ability to manage teams, plan events and manage significant budgets.
Belinda Lighton, Managing Director at Knightsbridge Recruitment commented:
ìEach decade has needed its own way to describe its support staff ñ either through political correctness or to keep up with the evolution of this role. In our view, the term ësecretaryí no longer ties in with our clientsí needs. For instance, in l986, 99% of employers asked for a secretary and today only 1% want a secretary.î
She added: ìThe term secretary is also no longer appropriate to describe our candidates, 70% of whom are graduates with high career aspirations. They tend to use the PA route to develop a corporate career or choose business support as a career in itself. This is reflected in our business records, which show that in 1986, 99% of candidates wanted a secretarial job and now 99% ask for something more.
As well as creating a brand which reflects market changes, Knightsbridge Recruitment also hopes that the new name will give it the scope to expand its business into new sectors whilst maintaining the key services and qualities it offers clients and candidates ñ quality, commitment, passion and reliability.
