In accordance with their commitment to improving the skills shortage within the manufacturing sector, Manchester based recruiterís, Kinetic plc are partnering The Manufacturing Institute to deliver a ëMake it in manufacturingí workshop at Skills North West (3rd - 5th February at Bolton Arena); the Regionís largest careers event for 14 - 19 year-olds. Incorporating this workshop at the event follows the Governmentís recent Skills Summit, where it stated that in the new world economy, quality jobs will come from a renaissance in manufacturing.
With the sector continuously struggling to attract new entrants, the manufacturing recruitment specialists are participating at the event to provide the regionís youngsters with an insight into what manufacturing is really about. Through running an interactive manufacturing style ëWho wants to be a millionaireí game show, the company will enlighten the expected 20,000 teenagers on just how interesting, varied and rewarding a career in the sector can be.
Kerry Fairhurst, Marketing Manager at Kinetic said:
ìBeing a major advocate of manufacturing, Kinetic always strives to enhance the appeal of this sector. Having managed the recruitment needs of various leading manufacturers over the last twenty-five years and sourced a multitude of jobs for thousands of candidates, we can speak competently and honestly about what manufacturing has to offer. Owing to the lack of career interest and decreasing numbers of new entrants emerging into this sector, it is important for us to stimulate awareness at a young age. Equally so, it is vital that we demonstrate the vast range of diverse and professional careers that are available.î
The attendees will not only have the opportunity to win impressive prizes by tackling Kineticís ëWho wants to be a millionaireí game show, but to further wet their appetite for a career in manufacturing, the ëMake it in manufacturingí workshop will also encompass hands-on activities, including; creating a 3D video model of a jet engine and test flying it, plastic moulding, mixing hair gel, making metal aircraft, soldering badges, laser-cutting key-rings and creating bags.
