A North West company has been honoured at a ceremony recognising the UK’s most “disruptive” businesses – early-stage firms triggering change in their respective markets.
JobsTheWord, led by a trio of professionals with combined experience in recruitment, technology and investment, has been chosen as one of Everline Future 50s, for their use of big data to shake up the jobs market and provide a better way to generate results for both employers and candidates looking for a job match.
The company, which is based in Knowsley, was founded in 2011 by Will Crandle, Lee Harding and Keith Jones, an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor, and in 2013, was awarded an investment of £525,000 from The North West Fund for Venture Capital, managed by Enterprise Ventures.
The big data system, in keeping with the approach to personalisation, was named after Will Crandle's daughter Billie. It was developed from scratch using freely available information from across the web and comprises bespoke algorithms to discover the ideal active and passive applicants for employers.

The members of this year’s list, now in its fourth year, were announced at a ceremony staged by Everline, part of SME lender Orange Money, at LSO St Luke’s in London, in conjunction with Real Business.
