Jobserve trio get Jubilee handshake from HM

.

THREE Jobserve employees are preparing to meet the Queen, after their entrepreneur boss decided the fairest way to choose who should go to Buckingham Palace was to put everyoneís name in a hat, including his own!

Robbie Cowling, one of the regionís most high profile businessmen, was asked to send three people from his successful online recruitment company, Jobserve, to meet the Queen, as part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations, after she decided she would like to meet winners of the prestigious Queenís Award for Enterprise.

Robbie and his team won the award last April, making Jobserve the first ever dotcom to receive the honour. At a VIP reception in August, the Queenís representative in Essex, Lord Braybrooke, presented staff at the firmís headquarters on the Tower Business Park in Tiptree near Colchester with the Queenís Award in the Innovation category.

At the time, Robbie was keen to stress that the award, while a great personal honour for him, was a huge tribute to his staff and the incredible amount of hard work that had gone into making Jobserve a genuine Internet success story. So when the invitation to the Palace dropped on Robbieís desk he decided there was only one way to choose who should go.

ìWe were asked to send three representatives from right across the spectrum of the company,î he explained. ìEveryone who works at Jobserve made a major contribution to helping us win the Queenís Award, but itís no good making grand statements about it all being down to the team if you donít back up your words with actions, which is why I decided to group names together and then pick three at random.î

The lucky three are Wendy Cowell, Jobserveís senior sales team leader who lives in Tollesbury, Alan Swan, a technical analyst from Tiptree, and personnel manager Louise Stewart from Braintree.

All three are delighted to be going up to Buckingham Palace on February 11th. Alan, said: ìWe couldnít believe it when Robbie said he was going to pick three people at random and when my name came out I was thrilled. Most bosses would have made sure they went to something like this themselves, so we were all very impressed when Robbie gave everyone in the company the chance to go.î

Jobserve was launched in 1994 by Mr Cowling, when, as a computer contractor himself, he decided there had to be a better and more efficient way of finding or advertising a job than waiting for specialist magazines to be published. His company was the first in the world to send details of career and contract opportunities direct to jobseekers by email and his company is regularly featured as one of the most profitable and fastest growing businesses in the UK.

Thousands of new jobs are posted on Jobserveís website at www.jobserve.com every day, with over 150,000 people subscribing to the service.

Winners of the Queenís Award are judged to be among the best companies in the UK ñ only a small percentage of those that enter measure up to the strict criteria and demanding standards required to win an Award. Winners are given special dispensation to carry the Queenís Award Emblem on stationery and promotional or advertising material for the company.
