Competition can be fierce within the $76 billion staffing industry. Consulting and staffing firms continually strive to find new leads, break into new accounts, and find add-on business within existing clients. These companies have found a successful new a Web Sales Channel and an alternative to the cold callóHotGigs, the contract talent marketplace.More than 2,000 consulting and staffing companies are already using HotGigsí talent research and promotion tool, HotGigs.com, to market their company and consultants to more than 1,000 Fortune 1000 and emerging growth companies across the United States and Canada.
PRG International of Marlton, New Jersey, and Universal Software, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts exemplify the strong ROI HotGigs can drive to its staffing firm clientele. Both companies joined HotGigs in the winter of 2004 and have seen great results in just a few short months.
In his first five months, Dave Hoke, President of PRG International, landed five new contracts. The service has more than paid for itself, says Hoke, who heard about HotGigs from a colleague. At the end of the day, I just pulled the trigger and I said íIíll try it.í Iíll never know until I try it.í
HotGigs has an excellent tool, but they also have the people to back it up, said Hoke, whose firm is an IT consultancy specializing in software development, business analysis, and quality assurance for clients in the mid-Atlantic region, Florida, and the Bay Area.
They gave me an account manager, someone who was specifically dedicated to me, which allows you to learn the system quickly and get your profile up, promote your consultants and engage your clients. This tool lets you network and it leverages the Web the way the Internet should be leveraged.
Rick Melton, Manager of Business Development at Universal Software, an IT consultancy and offshore project development company specializing in ERP packages, financial applications, and Java development, also uses HotGigs for networking.
One of the main things that Iíve gotten out of HotGigs is that itís a way for me to make contact with other agencies or directly with clients, says Melton. It gives me the opportunity to learn about their company, and they can learn about Universal Software.
Using HotGigs as a lead generator, Melton networked his way into the State of Minnesota to eventually become a preferred IT vendor. He has also built networking relationships with seven other companies.
Itís very, very easy to use and cuts way down on the time that it would take me to research companies who are looking for these types of consultants, says Melton.
Along with being a great networking tool, HotGigs lets consulting and staff augmentation companies post profiles about their consultants online, where employers can enter the site for free and scan them. Melton has posted 50 new consultants on HotGigs.com and is promoting them in front of more that 1,000 potential customers.
Additionally, HotGigs lets its customers like Hoke and Melton know when a new employer has job requisition to fill.
When a company posts their need for a resource, the system automatically sends me an email saying that a gig has been posted that matches your consultantís skill set, says Melton. I click on íSubmit Resumeí, it shows me which consultants match the gig, I check the box next to the appropriate consultant, hit íSendí and it automatically sends the consultantís resume back to the person that posted the gig.
I think we could run our whole business on just this one portal, says Hoke, who plans to work the site more heavily in the coming months.
