Golde Locks: The Online Job Seekerís Experience in 2004

New Orleans, LA, June 29, 2004 CareerXroads releases the results of their 2004 Fortune 500 Job Site Analysis at the 56th Annual SHRM Conference & Exposition. This annual study reviews the corporate websites of Fortune Magazineís Annual Top 500 Corporations list in an effort to determine how their websites are used for recruiting. This yearís study included some ìmystery shoppingî by Golde Locks of Porridge Lane.

CareerXroads enlisted the assistance of 25 out-of-work human resource executives to find and apply for jobs with Fortuneís 100 Best Companies in America to Work For. They presented themselves as Golde Locks, an experienced Accounting Manager invented by CareerXroads. Goldeís credentials were designed to pass through any automated system without duping humans about the studyís intentions. Some of Golde Locksí more interesting discoveries:

78% of the firms she applied to acknowledged Goldeís application in some manner.

Corporate America is making it easier to find their job opportunities ñ this yearís review found 86% of the Fortune 500 have a link in their main navigation or from their home page to a ìcareersî section.

While a handful of recruiters caught the disclaimer in this study ñ there were others who emailed Golde Locks to set up an interview or called for an initial phone screen.

The conclusion of this experiment? ìTechnology provides the tools but many corporations are still learning how to make their websites a true destination for future employees,î notes Mark Mehler CareerXroads principal. To review Goldeís resume visit: Site link below
