The keynote address was given by Professor Jacques Reijniers of the Nyenrode and Antwerp Business Schools who covered the development of interim management in the Netherlands and gave an update on the current trends and thinking there, ending for a call for increased and closer European co-operation on academic research.

Charles Russam of Russam GMS Limited then reviewed the research that his company had carried out since 1990 highlighting the obvious changes in the size and shape of the industry. Dr Martin Dorchester shared his latest research into emotional intelligence with the conference arguing that was more important than raw intelligence in the successful completing of an interim assignment.

Frau Dr Vera Bloemer then reviewed the research and developments in the market in Germany under the title ëAn awakening Beautyí emphasising the rapid growth in the industry there especially into Eastern Europe. Simon Berry of Interim Assignments outlined the progress of new interim managers who had come into the business through the IMA Workshop and suggested that their success rate was higher than would normally be expected.

Anton Fishman of Alium Partners detailed the research and methodology behind his model for the start of the execution of an interim assignment. Finally Jaap Schaveling of Nyenrode Business School covered their research into the mis-match of the perceptions on a number of success criteria between the interim managers and the hiring clients.

The event was organised and hosted by forim and chaired by Dr Ian Daniell.
