Online Recruitment Conference and Exhibition, London on the 20th June 2006

The first ever Online Recruitment Conference and Exhibition for the online recruitment industry will be in London this month. The organiser, David Hurst, MD of Onrec.com, says ìit will tackle the fundamental issues behind the online recruitment industry.î There will be inspiring speakers, a comprehensive exhibition of the latest products and services available, plus the opportunity to network with others in the industry.

The exciting array of high profile international speakers, kicks off with ABCeís Business Development Manager, Stuart Maxwell, exploring the demographics of the 11 million people who use the Internet to search for jobs and career advice in the UK. He will also focus on the huge growth in the online recruitment business in the UK in 2005 and look at future trends.

HR professionals interested in the most cost efficient ways to increase the return on investment (ROI) of human capital initiatives will hear best practice examples and information from the CEO of IKM Inc., a provider of knowledge measurement solutions and services which boasts a global client base across Europe, China, Japan and India.

European multiple-job-posting expert, Eva Zils, from France will outline the potential savings available from using online systems. Other eminent speakers include Paul Van der Bulk, Avokat, from Ulys.net, an international law firm specialising in new technology. Paul will consider the legal issues and implications associated with the use of applicant tracking systems.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to explore and interact with the latest products on offer at the exhibition which will take place alongside the conference, showcasing the most innovative developments in the industry. Job boards, specialist recruitment services, technology and software suppliers will all be exhibiting including Broadbean, Peopleclick, Simply Online Services, Jobsgroup.net and Recruitmax. For the delegates, and for those unable to attend, here is a preview of some of the companies and their products and services that are participating in this inaugural Online Recruitment Conference and Exhibition.

Totallyfinancial.com and totallylegal.com, the leading websites for financial and legal professionals, will be there to provide informal advice to visitors to their stand and to demonstrate the two websites.

As the founder, Bernard Howard, explains: ìSometimes clients find the whole online world a little confusing. Having launched in 2000, we are one of the oldest website companies around and are happy to share our experience of the market - what works, what doesnít and how clients can attract candidates, reduce the cost per hire and communicate their employer brand. With over 500,000 visits to the sites a month presumably we are doing something right! And indeed, we won the Best Online Recruiter Award from Pass Magazine. Many visitors may also be interested in Antipodean candidates and with the launch of totallyfinancial.com.au and totallylegal.com.au we can let them know how we can assist them in this area as well.î

Visitors to their stand can also win an unlimited job postings subscription for 6 months for either totallyfinancial.com or totallylegal.com. Quite an incentive to take a day out from the office! And, on a different note, visitors can also win a Fortnum & Masons hamper delivered to their door ñ ordered online, of course!
Broadbean Technology is the UKís largest multiple job posting and source tracking provider, and will also be at the exhibition. They say ìWe post over 150,000 job adverts each week and will track the source of over 10,000,000 applications this year alone. Broadbean work with over 250 companies in the UK, ranging from SMEís right up to the likes of Logica and T-Mobile. Our recruitment agency clients include Alexander Mann, Robert Walters, Hudson and Spring. If you post jobs online or are involved in the recruitment process, you should be talking to Broadbean. We will be happy to advise you on reducing administration costs, monitoring return on investment and controlling your budget to the penny. Please visit us at Stand 1.î If you are unable to attend the event, Broadbean would be happy to give you an online demonstration or free trial of their product. Please contact their website for more information.

This yearís conference will see Skillsarena demonstrating their unique Create Your Own module, a testing suite specially designed to enable organisations to develop and tailor online assessments for their own business needs. In addition to Create Your Own, Skillsarena will be exhibiting two further online assessments developed by SHL, a world leader in psychometric testing, to complement Skillsarenaís well-established ëhard skillsí testing suites. The Talent Screener Call Centre test evaluates a candidateís behaviour characteristics, including reliability, sales drive and customer focus. Talent Screener Retail works in a similar capacity by analysing those who want to work in the retail sector. Both tests enable unsuitable candidates to be sifted out quickly and objectively by indicating those who are suitable for interview and will ultimately succeed in their chosen environment.

Skillsarena will also be demonstrating newly added enhancements to their existing portfolio of tests, such as an increase in regional and International accents in their Call Centre suite. The Skillsarena International Clerical suite has also been revised to make questions more accurate and relevant to todayís business world.

Jane Owen, Managing Director at Skillsarena comments: ìThis event gives us a valuable opportunity to showcase new products and meet our colleagues in the industry who support our services. Skillsarena recognises that online recruitment is becoming an integral part of the candidate selection process and so we endeavour to help businesses assess the skills of their prospective and existing employees so they can best utilise their staff.î

JobsGroup.net will be demonstrating the benefits of their award-winning network of specialist online recruitment websites for both recruitment agencies and corporate recruiters. They say they will be talking about how JobsGroup.net is unique, because they offer the reach of the most popular job networks with the industry expertise of niche job boards.

In terms of new services, JobsGroup.net recently invested in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This will form the basis of a soon-to-be-launched best-in-class industry solution, which dramatically improves the speed, accuracy and flexibility of online recruitment services for recruiters. Attendees of the Onrec UK Online recruitment Exhibition will be amongst the first to learn about this fantastic new innovation.

Another exhibitor at the show explains why they you should visit their stand this way:

ìOK! So letís say I own a job site, as always I want more quality traffic. The techie guys have at last produced a site that I am happy with, is this version 3 or 4? And why did it take so long again? Anyway, it is ready now and fully optimised for all our relevant keywords or so Iím told!

I have, what now seems a daily meet with our marketing guy, ìI need quality trafficî, I inform him, ìOur SEO is working well, but it is highly competitive for the keywords we are chasing!î is his reply!

HmmmÖ we write down our advertising options:

Sign up for a pay per click job advertising service, from the main search engines? Yes we want high volume but just run by the ROI, from the last campaign againÖ

Hire the SEO company at Canary Wharf. What was it they said last time? ìYour site is fine, and fully optimised, youíre just stuck in the sandbox!î

Find a relevant niche site to advertise onÖ.hmm they all seem to be running their own job boards these days.

Pay per click job advertising service, from a job search engine? Well this did work last time as we only pay when a candidate clicks on a job he likes. We had a problem with their billing system though we always disagreed on the amount of clicks!

Now IF only there was a service that sends us qualified candidates on a PPC basis, from a niche site relevant to our sector, with full online reporting, then we could see exactly what we were paying for...

Weíre interruptedÖ

ìThereís a guy on the phone asking for you from the UK Jobs Network ...î

The UK Jobs Network will be exhibiting at the Online Recruitment Conference and Michael Archer and the team will look forward to meeting you there.
