I-coach academy, a company in the development of professional coaches, is hosting a two-day workshop on ìThe Psychology of Coachingî on October 17th and 18th at Regentís College, London from 9.00-5.00pm. Guest presenters will be leading expert Dr Bruce Peltier, author of The Psychology of Executive Coaching with 25 years experience and Professor Mike van Oudtshoorn, chair of the International Centre for the Study of Coaching at Middlesex University and academic dean of the i-coach academy.

The two-day workshop will focus on providing an overview of psychological principles accessible to the practice of coaching and will turn psychological theory into practical coaching applications. The workshop is aimed at coaches who would like more background on the psychological theory underlying their coaching practice and hr professionals who would like to have a greater understanding of some of the principles that underpin the work of coaches.

Said Mike van Oudtshoorn: ìAs the coaching market becomes more sophisticated, organisations are demanding that coaches can demonstrate a sound theoretical foundation for their practice in both business and psychology whilst demonstrating ethical consciousness. This workshop will give participants the tools they need to turn theory into practical solutions for businesses.î

The programme will provide attendees with the i-coach framework to assist with their current practices as well as introducing new ideas to evolve a new model for coaching. Day one will focus on adult learning and development, client assessment, person-centred approaches and behavioural approach. Day two will focus on cognitive and social psychology issues, psychopathology and personal construct psychology.

The workshop is being organised by i-coach academy. Founded in 2001, i-coach academy aims to create a recognised standard of academic and practice-based excellence to underpin the discipline of coaching, so that practitioners and clients know how to assess the quality and effectiveness of the coaching they give or receive.
