The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and think tank that is advancing the science of strategic talent management, announced today that it will present its fourth annual National Human Capital Summit, the nation's most important event in talent management and business strategy, in Scottsdale, Ariz., March 8 through March 11, 2009.
This national leadership conference, first held in 2005, brings together forward-thinking executives, talent and human resources leaders, business line managers, and organizational development visionaries from Fortune 1000 companies, fast-growth small and medium businesses, and government agencies, offering them multiple opportunities to share insights, discuss trends, and learn how others are transforming talent management and business strategy within their organizations.
The 2009 Summit, to take place at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., will focus on the convergence of talent management, strategic human resources and business strategy, with presentations by the world's top business strategists and chief executives from the world's most progressive companies. Keynote speakers scheduled to appear include Gary Hamel, world-renowned author and business thought leader, and William C. Taylor, cofounder and founding editor of Fast Company magazine.
During the past year, talent management has evolved dramatically from concept to practice within the world's leading companies, said Allan Schweyer, HCI Executive Director and Senior Vice President, Research. HR, OD and line management are all being transformed by the fact that the quality of talent and the effectiveness of talent practices are the most competitive levers in the global economy. HCI's Summit is the only event that brings stakeholders from these different specializations together to discuss the universal business opportunities made possible by effective strategic talent management, and to learn from the most respected names in the industry.
Three Learning Tracks
To provide a strategic, cross-disciplinary view of talent management, the Summit brings business leaders and stakeholders together to examine strategic talent management from a variety of perspectives.
Three learning tracks, leadership, engagement and change, allow attendees to focus on topics of greatest interest to them and their organizations. The leadership track explores next practices in talent development, success, and what it takes to become a talent leader during times of uncertainty. The engagement track examines methods for improving employee performance and retention, including new approaches, trends and measurement technologies. The change track presents transforming talent through rewards strategies and creating a high-performance workplace culture.
World-Class Presenters
HCI has assembled a group of Summit presenters that includes the world's foremost business strategy gurus, Chief Executive Officers who are leading talent transformation within their organizations, and hands-on executives who are driving those changes while responding to today's tactical challenges.
In addition to keynote speakers, Hamel and Taylor, presenters scheduled to appear include Gamal Aziz, President and CEO of MG Mirage Hospitality and MGM Grand Inc.; Sydney Finkelstein, Steven Roth Professor of Management at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth; James W.
