Human Capital Institute and Babson Executive Education Partner

’Best Management’ Thinking

Washington D.C. ñ the Human Capital Institute (HCI), a not-for-profit think tank and association working to advance talent management strategies, and Babson Executive Education, consistently ranked among the worldís top executive education providers, announced today a partnership to develop a series of Human Capital Leadership programs in the greater Boston area. Events will take place three to four times a year beginning in Fall 2005.

Babson will host a quarterly series of live Network events at its Babson Executive Conference Center in Wellesley, Mass. with executives, professors, and others who have successfully integrated talent management strategies into their organizations.

This partnership is an important step towards achieving a common objective to provide human capital training to leaders in every sector of the economy, said Alan Schweyer, HCI’s Executive Director. Babson College is known for successfully instilling an entrepreneurial focus in its business degree programs. An innovator like Babson is an ideal partner in our university network. We look forward to co-sponsoring events that educate leaders on how to remain competitive in a knowledge economy.

Driving a talent mindset throughout the enterprise is key to organizational performance and knowledge worker productivity, said Babsonís Dr. Tom Davenport. ìBabsonís research explores cutting-edge issues around human capital including knowledge management, social networks, and knowledge-intensive processes.î

Davenport holds the President’s Chair in the Information Technology Management Division and is Director of Research for Babson Executive Education. Professor Davenport has been recognized for his pioneering work on business process reengineering, knowledge management, and the business use of enterprise systems. His most recent book, Whatís the Big Idea: Creating and Capitalizing on the Best Management Thinking, was named one of the three best books of the Spring 2003 season by Fortune magazine. In 2003, he was named one of the top 25 consultants in the world by Consulting magazine.

Says Davenport, By partnering with the premier institution for human capital leadership, we enhance our ability to be a resource for greater Boston, providing practical strategies and best practices to those who recognize that talent is key to remaining competitive. I look forward to being one of the first to speak at a Network series event.

HCI and Babson Executive Education programs will be available to members of both institutions. Babson students and faculty will become members of the Human Capital Institute and will have access to HCI’s research, education, and nationwide Academic Network events.
