HR Training for Romanian border police <br>- University of Wolverhampton

The University of Wolverhampton is providing human resource training to members of the Romanian Border Police after securing a prestigious EU project.

Lecturers from the University of Wolverhampton Business School are travelling to Romania to train the police officers and agents who man the countryís borders.

The ëTraining in Curriculum Design and Developmentí programme is delivered by four lecturers from the Human Resources department of the School. They will provide information about modern teaching techniques and interactive classroom methods to the professors and teachers of the Romanian Border Police (RBP), who adopt the new techniques when training their staff.

Head of the Human Resources department and team leader, Janet Firth, said: ìRomania is of strategic importance to the EU as a gateway from East to West Europe. We conducted a fact-finding mission in January to see what practices the Romanian Border Police are engaging with. We hope to provide them with new methods they can adopt and use in the future.

ìWe hope this is the start of a continuing involvement in Eastern Europe border security. We are pleased to be able to build relationships and bridges with our Eastern European partners and it is a great opportunity to open our eyes on border security in that part of the world.î

The RBP reports to the Romanian Ministry of Interior, the equivalent of the Home Office, and has six training schools around the borders of Romania. The programme has been developed by the University specifically for this purpose. Four members of staff and a University of Wolverhampton Business School graduate who now works as an interpreter, Dan Nichita, will deliver the training to 150 people over a two-month period. Participants will receive a University certificate of attendance.
