Helping graduates discover their options

Graduate recruitment specialist helps students make choices and decisions about their lives by offering them an options course<br>

As Prince William nears his graduation date, he is leaning towards a military career ñ unsurprising given his familyís tradition of service in the Armed Forces. And all over the country, less well-heeled but similarly traditional families are expecting their bright young things to tread the predictable path when they leave university.

But what of those who donít want to? And those that donít HAVE a traditional direction to take. One graduate recruitment specialist actively helps students make choices and decisions about their lives by offering them an options course.

The Discovery Day is the brainchild of Jonathan Evans, director of Discovery Recruitment. ëA lot of people leave university having been there with a specific goal in mind, and are excited and happy to follow that path,í he said. ëBut for others, it can be a good idea to stand back from things for a while and assess interests, talents and achievements alongside goals. A gap year can sometimes fulfil that purpose, but is frequently a more general life experience.í

A Discovery Day is Discoveryís way of presenting candidates with a wider view of where they can go professionally. ëWe pride ourselves on getting to know our candidates so that we can place them in the most suitable environments for their personalities as much as for their qualifications,í said Evans.

ëOur clients work closely with us, so we get to know them well enough to know what they are looking for. When a graduate knows exactly where he or she wants their career to go, itís easier to place them with a business that will benefit from helping them progress. Everyone wins.í
