Graduate turns the tables on flooded job markets

Addressing the cries of graduates frustrated with cluttered job boards and the impersonal nature of recruitment agencies, Rishi Modha, a recent graduate, has started a company that seeks to redefine how graduate talent is sourced

Addressing the cries of graduates frustrated with cluttered job boards and the impersonal nature of recruitment agencies, Rishi Modha, a recent graduate, has started a company that seeks to redefine how graduate talent is sourced.

With unemployment rates expected to soar to 3 million, and the UK officially in recession, the graduate job market is feeling the crunch. Modha is channelling his energy to help fellow graduates and university students secure their first step on the career ladder. His website, LaunchMind.com, allows employers to find and target candidates who meet their specific business needs.

The start-up is aiming to change the way in which employers engage with prospective candidates. It has reversed the recruitment process, prompting employers to take the first step by encouraging suitable graduates to apply for their vacancies.

Commenting on his reasons for starting the site, Modha said: I wanted to address the three key problems faced by graduate recruiters. Firstly, the difficulty in finding and targeting graduates with the right skills and experience; secondly, the flood of unsuitable applications received through traditional job adverts; and thirdly, the potential of missing out on the best graduates due to ineffective advertising and communication. The objective was to make it easier for employers to find graduates, such as myself, through a quick, simple and cost-effective process.

Graduates can use LaunchMind as a tool to increase their visibility in the crowded job market, simply by uploading their CV and adding their contact details. The benefit for employers is derived from the websiteís sophisticated search technology, which allows them to accurately pin-point graduates that match their recruitment criteria - eliminating the need for costly recruitment agencies and saving the many hours usually spent sifting through unsuitable applications.

Modha said: The initial reaction from those in the industry has been very positive, especially because we allow employers to search and view CV's for free. Businesses of all sizes can now source talent directly, whilst reducing their recruitment costs. The outlook is bright.
