Gloucester-based catering recruitment business has recipe for success following funding deal

Gloucester-based Cambray Catering, which provides temporary and permanent employees for the hospitality sector, is preparing for its next stage of ambitious growth, including new jobs, having agreed a funding deal with Ultimate Finance.

Former head chef and patisserie expert, Robert Cambray founded the company in June 2014 and quickly assembled an experienced team that has worked across the full spectrum of jobs within the sector. This has resulted in the company rapidly establishing an excellent reputation within the trade for correctly matching the skills of the individual with the particular vacancy.

To facilitate the rapid growth of Cambray Catering, a £125k invoice factoring agreement has been agreed with the Bristol office of Ultimate Finance. The facility will help free up cashflow enabling the company to take on additional personnel and increase its portfolio of clients.

Speaking about the success of the company, Robert said,

“Thanks to our own catering industry backgrounds, my team and I can relate to and understand our clients’ needs and match staff that can slot in and really benefit the establishment and become an asset.”

In addition to placing candidates, Robert and his team also work alongside several schools and sixth form colleges, helping to raise awareness of the opportunities within hospitality and generating an interest in developing a career in the sector.

Robert acknowledges the fact there can be a reluctance to join the catering industry as it is renowned for working long and unsociable hours. However he is quick to point out the fact there is a great deal of camaraderie and that the industry is good at looking after its own which, once people have experienced it, provides a great deal of fulfilment.

“There are so many different types of employer within the sector, as we provide personnel to hotels, restaurants, gastro pubs, bars, sporting venues, contract catering, care homes and private schools,” continued Robert. “In addition, people can work on a temporary basis to see if they like it, while at the same time retaining a healthy work life balance.”

Regional director of Ultimate Finance, Alastair Logan is pleased to have been able to provide the finance facility.

“Robert is typical of many SMEs insofar that the growth of the company can be stifled because it needs to release cash that may be tied up in invoices for as much as 90 days. Unfortunately high street banks do not always recognise the potential in companies and many are still reluctant to lend to them.

“Successful SMEs, such as Cambray Catering, are the lifeblood of this country and as such deserve financial support.”
