Giving the personal touch to Online Recruitment

An online job board is embracing the personal touch by launching its first Career Fair 05 in November at the London Barbican

An online job board is embracing the personal touch by launching its first Career Fair 05 in November at the London Barbican. JobServe, who pioneered jobs-by-email back in 1993, believes that combining the benefits of online recruitment with the value of face to face interaction will provide the perfect recipe for a successful two-day event.

Job-seekers will be able to talk about the types of work they are looking for with exhibitors from a broad range of industries who are keen to meet them to discuss the vacancies and services they have on offer.

Although it has long been recognised how the internet has transformed recruitment over the last few years, the fair will enhance the personal touch which is a key feature in the recruitment process.

Les Powell, organiser of The Career Fair said, ìThe speed and efficiency of being able to apply on line for jobs has been welcomed by people from a broad range of professions, however, nothing can replace the reassurance that face to face contact brings once that initial match has been made on the internet. We hope during 18th and 19th of November that good relationships will be built up between recruiters and delegates that would not normally occur within an electronic environment.î

The company hopes that by bringing delegates and employers together, both parties will relish the opportunity to answer each others questions and decide whether to move to the next stage of the interview process. The Career Fair 05 will encompass all the sectors that JobServe has vacancies for, offering a wide and varied selection of exhibitors at the Barbican.

ìWe want to provide a platform whereby the online benefits of www.jobserve.com can be complemented by personally meeting a number of first-class recruiters and employers all under one roof,î said Jane Pennell, Events Co-ordinator for JobServe.

Their belief in promoting the ìpersonal touchî message even extends to the methods used to promote their career fair. JobServe staff will be leafleting at a number of prominent London venues over the next few weeks targeting commuters as well as key universities and answering any questions that job-seekers have about coming along.

The action-packed event will also include free presentations by inspirational speaker Richard Denny who has been described by a leading daily national as ìThe UKís Guru of Motivationî. A resource centre accommodating a CV clinic will also be dispensing advice on how job-seekers can improve their chances of getting a better job. There will also be a small selection of training companies offering advice on keeping peopleís skills up to date to ensure they maximise their chances of being selected for the very best jobs on offer.
