GE SeaCo SRL has bought HR software from Snowdrop, to consolidate its employee data and ensure international legislative compliance.
Headquartered in Barbados, with 24 sales and support offices worldwide, GE SeaCo employs 220 staff and provides equipment leasing services in over 80 countries.
Initially GE SeaCo will implement Snowdropís Evergreen (personnel records management) and U-Access (online access for Line Managers and employees) modules, to be accessed by the five members of its HR team, across the world. Snowdropís SDS* (Snowdrop Directory Services) tool will also be implemented at the end of the year to assist the company with SOX compliance*.
Snowdropís Orchard Payroll module will be rolled out at the beginning of 2008, with Snowdrop Workflow, an e-mail information delivery tool, in place by May 2008. Workflow will automatically generate reminders for Line Managers and schedule work for HR at all its offices.
Currently GE SeaCo uses paper records to manage employee information at each of its offices across the world. By using Snowdrop, HR hopes to move to a paperless function that will allow immediate access to all HR records, regardless of location. 30,000 documents have already been scanned and placed in employee files, ready for uploading to the Snowdrop system. This will create immeasurable time savings on Go Live. The HR team will also use Evergreenís Organisational Charting and Salary Modelling tools for better workforce planning and worldwide salary reviews.
Through such high visibility of information, Russell Piper, HR Director for GE SeaCo, anticipates being able to equalise benefits, whilst no longer having to deal with time delays in procuring employee information. Russell says: ìWith Snowdrop there will be considerably less concentration on administration and a greater focus on training and development, enabling us to deal with the challenges of tomorrow.î
Russell has previously worked with Snowdrop at Crane Telecommunications Group Ltd, which similarly to GE SeaCo, operates across a multi-site environment. Due to Russellís positive experiences in his previous position, he eagerly awaits the roll-out of Snowdrop at GE SeaCo and is confident of an excellent return in investment.
*The SDS tool will provide connectivity between the HR software and GE SeaCoís Microsoft Active Directory. For example, once new starter information has been recorded in the HR solution, automatic network access and identity will be created. This information will then be shared across all other business systems, as required. This ensures the timely creation of, and closing off of, employee information, to reduce potential security risks.
*SOX is an American corporate governance rule that was introduced in America in the wake of the Enron disaster, requiring organisational accountability for all employees.
