A call to make apprenticeships more ëdemand ledí was announced by Stephen Gardner of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) at the Apprenticeship summit 2008 in London yesterday.

Speaking on behalf of the chairman of the LSC, Chris Banks, Mr Gardner announced a 1 billion annual spend to increase the quantity and quality of apprenticeships in England.

ìTo make this work, we must make the whole process demand-ledî, Stephen challenged the audience of over 500 Apprenticeship providers from around the country.

Fuse Jobs (www.fusejobs.co.uk), Londonís entry-level jobsite is rising to this challenge. In partnership with Employer Training Solutions (provided by Westminster Kingsway College), Fuse Jobs are piloting a totally unique vacancy-led approach to Apprenticeshipsì. Powered by our advanced vacancy aggregation technologyì, said Matt Haikin, Director of Fuse Jobs

ìBy starting with currently advertised vacancies, our pilot guarantees the whole process is demand-led from the very beginning, and ensures the easiest possible sell to employersî, explains Matt.

ìThe pilot has been very promising so far, and we intend to launch pan-London later this year, working with all FE Colleges and Apprenticeship providers across London. By building on our unique aggregation technology, we plan to provide hundreds of potential vacancy-led Apprenticeship opportunities every day!î

Fuse Jobs already carry over 200 Apprentice/Trainee positions updated hourly from a huge range of online sources. The new vacancy-led positions exclusively available through the pilot will be at the very top of this list of London job opportunities.
