Bespoke eLearning, new technologies and performance support tools are just some of the topics making up the packed free seminar programme at the World of Learning Exhibition. The UK’s essential learning and development event, which takes place 1 and 2 October at the NEC, Birmingham, features over 50 free seminars and workshops, the chance to see and sample the latest L&D developments, as well as the opportunity to hear from leading industry thinkers.
This year’s programme reflects the current concerns of the L&D industry including the topics of talent development, staff engagement and leadership and organisational change. The informative sessions draw on case studies to bring the subjects to life and offer the opportunity to hear from experts with advice on the latest products, services and solutions.
The development of Oxfam’s ambitious eLearning programme is discussed in Developing global eLearning – a journey of initiation with Christina Schmalenbach, Humanitarian Capacity Development Advisor at Oxfam sharing the experience of delivering training in the most challenging humanitarian crisis zones to hundreds of individuals at a time.
Resilience through change is another interesting seminar that addresses 10 key strategies to help individuals to see life’s challenges as stepping stones and not stumbling blocks. It features case studies from UCAS, NHS and British Gas illustrating how to engage more positive and resilient employees.
The findings from a recent study into the future of eLearning are discussed in Impacts tomorrow? Challenges to eLearning today where Tony Sheehan from Director Learning Services, and Jessica Hills, Content & Innovation Manager at Ashbridge Business School explain how the survey results can inspire short and long term changes to a L&D strategy.
Nod if you can hear me – a guide to increasing learner engagement reveals how to create learning campaigns and not just courses with Stephen Walsh, director of City & Guilds Kineo revealing three steps that get learners to talk about and love learning.
New for this year at the world-renowned exhibition are a series of pre-arranged one-to-one meetings allowing attendees to engage with relevant, high quality L&D buyers, encouraging more in-depth and productive interactions at the event.
Andrew Gee, Senior Project Manager for the World of Learning, comments:
“We have a varied and exciting seminar programme lined up this year that will equip visitors with the skills and knowledge that can then be translated into the workplace. The introduction of one-to-one meetings is also another welcome addition to the event, designed to help visitors to plan their day in advance to ensure meaningful conversations with relevant exhibitors at the event.”
