Four hundred and fifty staff involved in food fight

Four hundred and fifty staff at one of the country’s leading finance companies are getting involved in a food fight.

Four hundred and fifty staff at one of the country’s leading finance companies are getting involved in a food fight.

But to the relief of management, the fight will be between three caterers involved in a pitch to run the company’s new staff canteen - and the 450 staff will be voting on which creates the top nosh.

It sounds trite, but there are four directors and 446 staff, so the staff get to choose the caterers - if we made the choice and we made it wrong, then I think the first I’d know about it would be a custard pie in my face, said Jim Rowley, Managing Director.

We’re going to arrange for a taste-off between the three catering businesses, and the one that gets the thumbs up gets to run the menu, he added.

It’s very much in TFC’s philosophy to put the staff first. We’re a very hard-working business with massively committed staff who are part of a fast-growing enterprise. We listen to what staff want and what’s important to them. A good canteen with good food and good service is important.

I don’t want to end up with egg on my face - or a custard pie - because of a wrong decision, added Jim Rowley.
