Flexible working changesñ top of list for workers ñ new research

43% of UK workers favour flexible working as top choice to improve health and wellbeing new research reveals today

The consultation into new rules on flexible working announced by the Government are ‘spot on’ according to workers – and good for health and wellbeing and probably productivity too. Research for the annual Health and Wellbeing Survey from workplace communicators Cadence Market Strategy shows that of 1087 UK adult workers survey by Populus, more flexible working was favoured as top choice (43%) to improve health and wellbeing.

Dan Doherty, spokesman for the Annual Health and Wellbeing Survey said: ‘Flexible working was once seen as something as a perk for top management, the creative industries and almost exclusively office workers. But with a 24/7 business day, flexible working doesn’t just help organisations to serve people better it also offers an opportunity for employers to help employees remove some of the stress of fitting modern life around a rigid working day. Likewise with maternity and paternity leave, being able to mix and match these will help workers to maximise the family support that’s available and help both parents keep on top of their jobs, maintain a steady home life and ultimately reduce stress and worry. That’s got to be good for productivity too.’

The Annual Attitudes to Healthcare survey is a new study that brings together a range of research which will be released throughout each year and will culminate in an annual report with specific recommendations for employers, employees and product and service providers.
