Health and wellbeing solutions provider, FirstAssist, is leading by example as it announces that it has achieved GoodCorporation Standard with commendations on its health and safety policy. This is a demonstration of FirstAssistís commitment to an ethical standard which has a high level of support across the industry.
Tim Ablett, Chief Executive of FirstAssist explains, Based on a set of core principles devised by the Institute of Business Ethics, the Standard sets out a framework of policies and good practices against which an organisation can measure how effectively it is meeting its goals. It covers practices towards employees, suppliers, customers, and providers of finance, as well as community and environmental impacts.
FirstAssist passed the verification by having policies and supporting systems of management practices across all 62 areas covered in the Standard. 35 staff and management were interviewed as well as a number of external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers and shareholders. To maintain Full Membership, FirstAssist will be annually assessed by an independent verifier and must meet minimum criteria regarding the existence and effectiveness of management practices.
Ablett concludes, We received commendations on our procedures for protecting and monitoring employeesí health and safety, as well as the way we protect our customersí personal information and only use it in ways explicitly agreed. Attaining the GoodCorporation Standard not only demonstrates our capability and performance as a company, it also emphasises our responsibility as an employer.
The assessment process includes not only interviews but is evidence based. The verifier reviews documents to evaluate FirstAssistís overall adherence to the GoodCorporation Standard. All the interviews are conducted in confidence and the overall report does not attribute individual comments from stakeholders.
