First Advantage HMS offers new feature, including OFCCP Compliance Capabilities

Helping federal contractors automate compliance with new Internet applicant guidelines

The Hiring Management Systems (HMS) division of First Advantage Corporation (NASDAQ: FADV), a global risk mitigation and business solutions provider, today announced that it has added significant features and enhancements to its applicant tracking and talent management software.

Advanced reporting tools are now provided to help government contractors meet the requirements outlined in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ (OFCCP) ruling on the definition of an Internet applicant. The new OFCCP regulations, which were effective February 6, 2006, provide an outline for record-keeping guidelines that federal contractors are required to follow. First Advantage HMS helps federal contractors automate the process of adhering to these guidelines so they can maintain federal contractor status while avoiding lawsuits and fines.

In order to defend against claims of discrimination, contractors must keep scrupulous records of who applied for jobs. While the online application process has been a timesaver for many employers and applicants, it has raised issues in terms of defining the entire applicant pool, said Robert Neveu, executive vice president of First Advantage’s HMS division. First Advantage reacted quickly to this new legislation to provide our users with the tools they need to manage the entire hiring management process.

Other key First Advantage HMS enhancements include:

- Candidate Search Logging, which supports clients’ efforts to comply with OFCCP recordkeeping rules for recording candidate and resume searches. Previously, First Advantage HMS saved just the search criteria; the new version enables companies to record and save search results. Additionally, the report now logs and displays resume keywords entered by the user and a count of candidates returned by the search.

- Candidate Search Masking, which permits users to search for candidates, refine their search, then either continue to refine their search or choose to view a grid page of the records returned from the search. All the values and the search criteria are saved, including actual historical resume data from when the search was conducted as well as current demographic data.

- Postal Code Radius Searching, which enables users to enter a U.S., United Kingdom or Canadian postal code and select a distance in miles or kilometers to view jobs within that distance from the postal code.

The HMS division is part of First Advantage’s Employer Services segment, which offers domestic and international organizations recruiting services, applicant tracking software, skills assessments and testing, tax credits screening, background screening, occupational health services and more.
