Executives expecting a stronger employment market in 2005

executives are encouraged by recent improvements in the job market and are growing more optimistic about the year ahead

According to ExecuNetís Executive Employment Outlook survey, executives are encouraged by recent improvements in the job market and are growing more optimistic about the year ahead.

The survey of 112 executives conducted by ExecuNet, an executive job search network, reveals 39% are ìconfidentî or ìvery confidentî the executive employment market will improve in the next six months - up from 31% in November. Thirteen percent (13%) are ìnot confident,î and 48% are ìsomewhat confidentî the job market will get better during the next six months.

Those who describe conditions in the executive employment market over the past 30 days as ìimprovingî increased to 40% in December from 30% in November.

ìWhile many companies increased their payroll during the past year, many more dragged their feet,î says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. ìThese companies are now realizing that itís impossible to squeeze any more out of their existing workforce, and are starting to search for talent - a trend we expect to continue in the year ahead.î

Executives who are currently unemployed expect their job search will take a total of 12.2 months - down from 12.5 months in November. In the past 30 days, they had an average of 2.5 interviews.
