Executives continue to see growth in the job market and remain cautiously optimistic that conditions will continue to improve in the months ahead

According to ExecuNetís Executive Employment Outlook survey in January, executives continue to see growth in the job market and remain cautiously optimistic that conditions will continue to improve in the months ahead.

The survey of 1,098 executives conducted by ExecuNet, an executive job search network, reveals 38% are ìconfidentî or ìvery confidentî the executive employment market will improve in the next six months - nearly unchanged from 39% in December. Forty-eight percent (48%) are ìsomewhat confidentî and 14% are ìnot confidentî the job market will get better during the next six months.

Those who describe conditions in the executive employment market over the past 30 days as ìimprovingî increased to 45% in January from 40% in December.

ìThe prospects for executives looking to make a job change are steadily improving,î says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. ìThe turnaround in the employment market gained considerable momentum heading into 2005, and all signs suggest that the demand for executive talent will continue to increase at a healthy pace during the first and second quarters.î

For executives who are actively looking for a new opportunity, time spent in a job search has dropped 10% during the past year. In January 2005, executives report they have been actively searching for a new opportunity for 6.8 months - down from 7.6 months one year ago.
