Executive Confidence Holds Its Ground In June

A recent survey conducted by ExecuNet reveals executives have not changed their expectations for the employment market.

www.execunet.com - June 9, 2004 - A recent survey conducted by ExecuNet, a leader in executive-level job and networking opportunities, reveals executives have not changed their expectations for the employment market.

According to the survey of 168 executives, 46% describe conditions in the executive employment market over the past 30 days as ìimprovingî - unchanged from one month ago, 48% say the market is ìflat,î and 6% believe it is ìgetting worse.î

Those who are ìconfidentî or ìvery confidentî the executive employment market will improve in the next six months dropped slightly to 32% in June from 34% in May. Thirteen percent (13%) are ìnot confidentî the job market will improve in the six months ahead and 55% are ìsomewhat confident.î

ìExecutives remain cautiously optimistic about the job marketís recovery,î says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. ìDespite an increase in job opportunities, thereís still a significant amount of competition for every opening, which is tempering enthusiasm for the recovery.î

Executives who are currently unemployed expect their job search will take a total of 11.7 months - up from 11 months in May. In the past 30 days, they had an average of 2.6 interviews - up from 2.3 one month ago.
