Knowledge of a companyís corporate structure is highly important for European employees. A survey from StepStone, Europeís leading provider of online recruitment services and solutions, has revealed that over two-thirds of respondents (68%) believe that they couldnít do their jobs properly if they did not know the strategic direction of their employer.
This research, which surveyed over 9,000 people from across Western and Northern Europe, found that only a small minority of respondents (10%) believe that they do not need to know their companyís corporate strategy for their role. However over one fifth of respondents (22%) commented that they did not think that their company has a corporate strategy.
These results highlight how important it is for a corporate strategy to be clearly communicated to all staff. Commenting on these findings, Colin Tenwick, Chief Executive Officer of StepStone said: ìCompanies should direct their attention towards communicating their business objectives to all employees through the most appropriate channels of internal communication. Corporate strategy information is not only important for ensuring that the company is properly represented externally but also for fostering a sense of community and teamwork amongst employees.î
Comparing country by country results reveals that respondents in Sweden and Norway are happy with how their corporate strategy is communicated as over 79% in both nations reported knowledge of their employersí business objectives. Knowledge of corporate strategy was least in Italy at just 62%.
This survey was conducted via StepStoneís online career websites in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
