Ernst & Young has today been awarded a prestigious national standard in recognition of its investment in its local communities in the UK.

The professional services firm is one of only 21 UK companies to receive the CommunityMark, a national standard awarded by Business in the Community (BITC) and endorsed by the government and voluntary sector leaders.

The award recognises the real difference that Ernst & Young has made through its long-term, high-level commitment to investment in its local UK communities. The firm was named as best in its class for a number of benchmarks and was praised for its many community initiatives, including Profitunity! and Art Matters.

Ernst & Youngís EMEIA Area Managing Partner Mark Otty said: ìWe are delighted that our UK community investment programme has been recognised as one of the best. Winning the CommunityMark helps us differentiate ourselves in the marketplace and means as a business we are leading the way in delivering quality programmes which provide both community and business benefits.î

Only last month, Ernst & Young became a Platinum member of the BITCís Top 100 Companies for Corporate Responsibility, recognised for ëcontinuing to make great strides in becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisationí. In addition, it also received two Big Tick awards from BITC: one for improving the health and wellbeing of its people; and the other for its education partnership programme.

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive of Business in the Community, congratulated the companies successful in gaining the standard: ìThe CommunityMark is the highest achievement for companies that are able to demonstrate the long term positive impact that they are having in their communities. Itís a standard that sets the bar high enough to give most business leaders vertigo; and itís an achievement to be proud of.î
