Employee expectations for 2005:Bright to cloudy

Different estimations of job situation

German employees are split in their expectations towards 2005. More than 27 percent of the participants in a current online poll by career networks Monster (www.monster.de) and jobpilot (www.jobpilot.de) in eight European countries answered the question ìDo you expect that your job situation will improve in 2005?ì ìNo, it will be worse.ì In contrast, nearly 27 percent answered, ìYes, considerably.ì A total of 9.062 people in Europe took part in the poll.

The majority of the employees think that something is going to change. Only slightly more than nine percent expect that things will be the same in 2005. 19 percent answered, ìNo, maybe I will lose my job.ì And more than 17 percent said they expect little improvements.

Europe mostly optimistic

The European neighbors look towards 2005 more optimistic. In Austria (41 percent), Poland (61 percent), Switzerland (36 percent) and Italy (50 percent) employees expect considerable improvements. In France nearly 35 percent expect slight improvements.

The Czechs are pessimistic, more than 27 percent are afraid that their situation will get worse. In Hungary more than 42 percent are worried about their job.
