Recruitment, training and consultancy firm Eden Brown flew 150 staff members to Barcelona last week for a three-day conference as part of the companyís 15 year anniversary celebrations.
ìThis was a celebration of our success,î said Eden Brown Managing Director Ian Wolter. ìWe wanted to treat our team to the most energetic and motivating weekend possible. The only thing missing was the stuffy conference hall.î
Eden Brown made a decision against MD speeches and results analysis. The group were split into 23 teams and given maps, travel cards, cash and clues to landmark locations around Barcelona.
At each of these they had to link up with senior personnel who tasked them with questions on the similarities between the location and the company before sending them off with another clue. The end result was 23 different slants on the company message.
ìWhy go all the way to Barcelona to spend the day sitting in a room watching power-point?î said Wolter. ìRetention level on speeches is very low ñ if these sort of trips are going to work you need to build your team by creating new understanding.î
The evening event was a gala silver service champagne celebration in the stunning Mount Tibidabo area with sales and pride awards. The night finished with a huge party at one of Barcelonaís most exclusive night-clubs.
Over the past 15 years Eden Brown has had an average growth of 30% pa and currently has a turnover of 50million pa.
