Employers in the transport industry are showing healthy recruitment intentions, according to Manpower, the UKís employment specialists.
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, a quarterly study of hiring intentions, found that a balance of 14% of companies in the transport sector expect to increase their headcount over the second quarter of 2006. This is higher than both last quarter and the same period last year, when the outlook was 1% and 13% respectively.
Simon Edwards, head of Manpowerís Driving section, said: These results mean good news for the transport sector. The first few months of the year were heavily affected by increasing fuel charges and greater proactive planning brought about as a result of RTR. However, this conservative outlook looks to change in the near future. We are hearing positive news from both clients and colleagues, and we are expecting hiring across the board as the industry benefits from the feel-good factor of the World Cup.
The Manpower Employment Outlook Surveyís results provide a forecast of employer hiring intentions for the current ahead: April to June 2006. 2,100 UK employers were surveyed.
