Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has donated money to install a gate that will provide disabled access to a much loved community woodland

Chester & District Housing Trust (CDHT) has donated money to install a gate that will provide disabled access to a much loved community woodland. Paula Marshall, rural communities housing officer for CDHT, presented a cheque for 520.92 to Jim Grogan, chairman and founder of the Tarvin Community Woodland Trust.

Jim Grogan said:

ìWe are very grateful to CDHT and the Rural Neighbourhood Panel; the donation will fund the purchase of a gate with a special radar lock that will allow wheelchair access to the woodland. The Tarvin Community Woodland Trust was established in 1998, after four years of negotiations with the Highways Agency, to create amenity woodland on land which was compulsory purchased when the A51 bypass was created. The woodland was created by the public, for public use and is the product of more than 6,000 hours of voluntary support from local residents. We are justifiably proud of what weíve created; at 13 acres and 1km long there are not many sites of this kind on such a big scale. ì

Paula Marshall, rural communities Housing Officer for CDHT, said:

ìIím delighted to present this cheque for such a worthy cause. The funding was authorised by the Rural Neighbourhood Panel, with money from the Community Intervention Budget (C.I.B.) which is funded by CDHT. Anyone interested in discussing future funding grants from the C.I.B. should contact me on 01244 305503 or free phone 0808 100 7701.î
