Creative Britainís Favourite Recruitment Consultant Hires Key Industry Player

MajorPlayers, Creative Britainís favourite recruitment consultant, has announced its decision to hire Greg Orme as CEO from 1st January 2008

MajorPlayers, Creative Britainís favourite recruitment consultant, has announced its decision to hire Greg Orme as CEO from 1st January 2008. This hugely strategic and important hire takes Greg from his position as CEO at Centre for Creative Business (CCB) ñ where he was instrumental in advising and progressing creative companies ñ to steer MajorPlayers through its next stage of development. Positioning MajorPlayers as a leading recruitment consultant within both the creative industries and the recruitment sector, Greg will also be working to raise the profile of the creative industries in general while challenging stereotypes currently surrounding the recruitment sector in the UK.

Recognised as the consultancy of choice among creative and marketing industries, MajorPlayers achieved The Sunday Timesí award as ìBest Small Company to Work forî in 2004 and gained investment from global recruitment company, Vedior, in 2007 ñ further recognition of this growing companyís potential. MajorPlayers credits this success to its founding philosophy that recruitment can be ìethical, honest and interested in peopleî coupled with its expertise in its key industries as well as its proactive approach to supporting them through training.

With an MBA from the London Business School and a detailed knowledge of the creative industries, Greg Orme was a natural choice to help grow MajorPlayers understanding the need to maintain the honest and personal, small business approach that makes the company a first choice for creative and marketing clients and candidates alike.

Jack Gratton, Managing Director of MajorPlayers, comments: ìI set up MajorPlayers after seeing numerous examples of how not to recruit ñ candidates treated badly, not listened to and ultimately placed in the wrong job, leaving both candidate and client unhappy. MajorPlayers was established on the basis that a personís career history is a journey and that a recruitment consultancy should play an ongoing part in it. It is equally important for us to build effective relationships with our clients, ensuring we recruit the right person first time around and help the client to save on expenditure and maximise productivity. By taking a more individual, interested approach, the MajorPlayers team is able to find the absolute best people for any marketing or creative job and this means we enjoy successful relationships with clients and candidates alike.

ìGreg shares my passion for the creative industries and knows, as we do, that the future of the sector depends on the quality of the individuals within it. Gregís experience in helping to nurture and grow creative businesses means that he will not only enable MajorPlayers to reach the next stage of development, increasing our ability to feed back into the creative industries that we work with, but will also ensure that our core values remain at the centre of all we do as we grow.î

Greg Orme adds: ìAs CCB CEO, people used to ask me what the secret to success in the creative industries was. My answer was always: itís about attracting, retaining and developing key talent. So, when a recruiter of the reputation of MajorPlayers came calling, I jumped at the chance.

ìI wouldnít have joined any old recruitment company. In general, the industry has a poor reputation. But MajorPlayers stands out as being highly ethical and incredibly effective. They are a group of talented people that genuinely and passionately cares about both candidates and clients. Thatís why they have become such a stunning success story.

ìI intend to help the company grow further and to take it on to the next level. And while we do that, Jack and I are nothing if not ambitious. We intend for MajorPlayers to help transform the image of recruitment in this country and around the world. Because recruitment is not just about helping people find companies that suit them; itís also about being a trusted partner for creative businesses which want to be better, bigger and more profitable.î

MajorPlayers is currently an 18m company with twelve main specialist divisions including Advertising, Creative, Creative Services, Design, Digital, Events, Finance, HR, Integrated, Office Support, PR & Comms and Research & Insight. MajorPlayersí 90 consultants still practice the founding principles that first ensured the company made its mark within the complex and competitive recruitment industry, continuing to establish itself apart from the target-driven stereotypes typically expected within the recruitment world.
