Corus hotels launches new Internet venture to streamline recruitment

Corus hotels, a mid-market group with more than 60 hotels in the UK, has launched a new venture enabling people looking for jobs to be emailed as soon as suitable vacancies arise and to monitor the progress of their application online.

Corus hotels, a mid-market group with more than 60 hotels in the UK, has launched a new venture enabling people looking for jobs to be emailed as soon as suitable vacancies arise and to monitor the progress of their application online.

The microsite, which can be found on www.corushotels.com/talentspotting
enables jobseekers to search for positions with Corus hotels, via location, salary and job title.

Once they have registered, candidates will be given their own password, which will enable them to monitor the progress of their application. They can also adapt their original submission form for different vacancies.

If there are no suitable vacancies at the time of registration, or if they are unsuccessful in their application, Corus hotels will keep people up-to-date with other opportunities by creating a talent pool and e-mailing jobseekers.

All recruitment advertisements for Corus hotels, which employs around 4,000 people across the UK, will direct applicants to the microsite, which also gives detailed information about the company, such as its Learning and Development programmes, and benefits schemes.

The microsite will enable Corus hotels’ Human Resources department, which receives hundreds of CVs every week, to identify the most suitable applicants quickly by typing key requirements into a search box that automatically matches them to the best applicants.

The microsite has been designed to blend in with the group’s talent spotting recruitment campaign, which has been running since 2003, and aims to attract the best candidates in the business. The microsite has been set up by online recruitment specialists PeopleBank, part of Workthing Ltd.

Komal Jethva, HR Projects Co-ordinator for Corus hotels, said: We receive hundreds of CVs every week, both speculatively and for advertised positions. It is vital that we are able to handle these applications quickly and efficiently, and find the best people.

The microsite is designed to streamline the recruitment process for both parties. Jobseekers can search vacancies and make applications quickly and easily, while the Human Resources department can examine CVs at the touch of a button. We believe it will be a great asset to our business and to jobseekers.
