CIPD Reward Conference reveals that itís not all doom and gloom for employers looking to reward staff during a recession
CIPD Reward Conference
3 - 4 February 2009, London
The 2009 Reward Conference from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) responds to the difficult economic times by showing how rewards and benefits can help organisations tackle the recession successfully.
To help bring to life the everyday challenges that employers face, the event draws from this yearís Annual Reward Management Survey, to be released to coincide with the conference on 3 and 4 February.
In particular, the conference will also focus on how to manage employeesí expectations against budgetary constraints, what types of reward will help organisations retain top talent and what kind of reward strategies are necessary for when the economy recovers.
Charles Cotton, Reward advisor at the CIPD, says: ìThese are tough times for employers. On the one hand there are financial pressures to reduce the size of the pay bill while at the same time still offering a reward package that motivates employees in these uncertain times and that will help retain them when the economy eventually picks up. This conference will help employers address this delicate balancing act.î
The event includes the following sessions:
Rewarding in Uncertain Times: Charles Cotton, Reward Advisor at the CIPD will present the findings from the 2009 Reward Management Survey, while Paul Mason, Economics Editor from Newsnight, will provide an overview of the economy and prospects for 2009 and 2010;
Reward Talent and Success: Jean-Pierre Noel, Group Head Compensation and Benefits at Reckitt Benckiser and Neal Blackshire, Benefits and Compensation Manager, McDonaldís Restaurants, will talk about the reward strategies that their companies have in place to ensure that they retain talent during and after the economic crisis;
Maximising the Power of Non-Financial Rewards: Victoria Moore, GM Reward, Pensions and Colleagues Services at the Comet Group and Alan Measures, Head of Reward at Moog Inc will present innovative, cost -sensitive ways to foster employeesí engagement;
Using Reward to Recover and Rebuild: Frances Richardson, Head of Reward at Oxfam and Stephen Gambles, Head of HR Policy and Reward at Alliance and Leicester, will show what companies can do to be ready for when the upturn comes.
