Three-fifths of organisations feel the implementation of employment legislation makes a positive contribution to employee relationships, according to a survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). To help employers prepare for new employment law and implement it successfully and in a way that benefits the business the CIPD will be running Law on Tour, a nationwide tour of practical employment law workshops.
Ben Willmott, CIPD Employee Relations Adviser, says, ìOur research shows that the majority of employers see the implementation of employment legislation as making a positive contribution to employee relationships as well as increasing employees’ sense of trust in their employer. Providing adequate training for managers in employment law issues will not only help to avoid costly legal action, it is also key if organisations are to become employers of choice and recruit, retain and motivate an increasingly diverse workforce.
The CIPD workshops, Law on Tour, will concentrate on recent and forthcoming changes to the law, including the Work and Families Act 2006 covering the extension of family rights and annual leave. They will also cover the new Age Discrimination Regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2006, as well as taking an in-depth, practical approach to undertaking and managing investigations. They will take place at the following locations:
Leeds - 7 November 2006
Leicester - 8 November 2006
Stansted - 9 November 2006
London - 10 November 2006 and 24 November 2006
